The last day of the year, the biggest Hanoi’s flower market of at Quang An ward, Tay Ho district is much more colourful and crowded than usual. This market normally opens at early morning and closes at around 5 a.m., flower is then carried to the inner in order to serve Hanoians for the whole day. However, right before and after Tet’s holidays, this market is opens for the whole day, even whole night for citizens’ need of recreation and shopping.
At around 8p.m., there are thousands of people at Quang Ba flower market. A trader from Dalat, which is more than 1000km far from Hanoi, said that there were some tens of trucks carrying orchid flower from Dalat every day. Flower has to be unloaded at late night or early morning in order to avoid crowd or traffic jam.
There are varieties of flower here and prices vary from some US$ to some thousands US$! For example, a very precious apricot blossom is worth approximately 2500 US$. At Tet’s holiday, flower price is twice or three times higher than usual.
I left Quang Ba flower market at early morning when the morning was just dawning. There were some visitors including foreigners coming here to feel the enjoyable atmosphere of this market.
